The Police in Niger State, on Wednesday confirmed the loss of life of a pair in Maitunbi space of Minna from generator fumes.
DSP Mohammed Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) within the state, informed the Information Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred on Monday night time.
Abubakar stated, “The incident occurred on Monday night time, however was reported to the police on Tuesday by neighbours at 8: 00 a.m.”
He defined that the deceased couple, Malam Adamu Mohammed, 30 and Sumaiya Adamu, 20, obtained married in December 2018.
In response to him, Malam Dahiru Mohammed, a brother to the late Adamu, visited the couple on Tuesday.
The PPRO stated that when Dahiru knocked on their door and there was no response, he left with out seeing them.
“When no one attended to Dahiru he left the home of the deceased couple,” he stated.
He defined that neighbours who didn’t see them popping out from their house raised issues and needed to break in.
“When the neighbors found what had occurred they reported the problem to the police,” he stated.
Abubakar defined that on the fateful night time, the deceased couple had placed on the generator, which they not too long ago bought, in one in every of their rooms that had no air flow and slept within the subsequent room.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple died because of the generator fumes.
“They died because of lack of air flow from the generator fumes,” the police spokesman stated.
NAN gathered from household sources that the couple has since been buried in keeping with Islamic rites.
